Earlier this month I had the pleasure of speaking at WordCamp US in St. Louis. WordCamp US is the largest WordPress event in the United States, so it was quite an honor for me to be asked to present an extended workshop on SEO.
As soon as I was invited to speak, I knew exactly what I wanted to talk about. I wanted to walk attendees through the identification of website personas, I wanted to help them ask the right questions about their target market and offering, and I also wanted to teach them what to do with all of this information.
I summarized this workshop with:
Learn How to Perform Proper Keyword Research, Align Them to Personas and the Buyer’s Journey, Then Map Them to Content
My talk was broken down into three major sections:
- Ask the Right Questions
- Gather Your Data
- Create a Strategy & Plan
My session was a working workshop, so I came prepared with worksheets for attendees. My 100 copies of worksheets were quickly snapped up because my room was overfull. Every seat was full and I had people standing and sitting along the walls. My heart was overflowing as much as the room. Being able to share my love for SEO with well over a hundred eager learners was more than I can ask for in an event.
The WordCamp organizers quickly converted talks into videos and my session is now available in two parts on WordCamp.tv. The videos are also below for immediate watching.
If you would like to access slides or worksheets, these are also available for download:

A big thank you to the WordCamp US organizing team for having me speak and an even bigger thank you for all the attendees who stood or sat on the floor to listen to me speak.
